NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Yale women's soccer team saw quite a bit of Sacred Heart over the weekend. The Pioneers played a pair of games at Reese Stadium against Delaware and Western Carolina as part of the Yale Classic. Yale hopes to put to use what it learned by watching when Sacred Heart returns to New Haven for a 7 p.m. kickoff on Tuesday night. Fans can follow the live stats on GameTracker.
The Bulldogs (3-2) outscored Western Carolina and Delaware by a combined score of 6-1 to capture the Yale Classic. Yale's top three scorers - Becky Brown, Maggie Westfal and Emma Whitfield - combined for six goals and eight assists in the two games. Brown, who was named Yale's Offensive MVP, was selected to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday.
The Pioneers (0-6) are coming off a hard-fought 2-1 loss to Western Carolina on Sunday. Leigh Dogmanits, who leads the team in goals and points, was named Sacred Heart's Offensive MVP, while Britney Dupee earned Defensive MVP recognition.
Following Tuesday's game, the Bulldogs will head to California and the Santa Clara Classic this weekend. Yale plays Stanford on Friday and Santa Clara on Sunday.
