NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Junior defender April Siuda was named to the SoccerBuzz Elite Team of the Week on Wednesday. Siuda was a key part of the Yale defense that posted shutouts of Sacred Heart, Connecticut and Central Connecticut. She also scored the second goal against 17th-ranked UConn.
Siuda has started every game since she arrived in New Haven. Her first career goal came in the victory at Columbia, and she tallied an assist in the win over Loyola, Ill. Siuda enjoyed an outstanding rookie season. She started all 19 games and often marked an opponent's top scorer. As a senior at Milton High School, Siuda was named team MVP and earned all-county honors. Prior to that she played for three years at Glastonbury High School in Connecticut and was a two-time all-conference selection. She also ran track at Glastonbury and set the school record in the 200 and 300-meter dashes.
