NEW HAVEN, Conn. - It's back to Ivy League play for the Bulldogs. Following a 2-1 victory over local-rival Quinnipiac on Wednesday night, Yale now plays four-straight games against Ivy opponents, starting with Saturday's matchup against Dartmouth at 7 p.m. at Reese Stadium.
The Bulldogs (6-4) have won five straight games, outscoring their opponents 9-2 during the streak. Five different players have scored the nine goals, and the team is averaging nearly 18 shots. Maggie Westfal leads Yale with five goals and 12 points, and Becky Brown has three goals and eight points. Kate Macauley is coming off the best performance of her young career. She scored both goals in Wednesday's win over Quinnipiac.
Dartmouth brings a 2-7 overall record to New Haven but, like Yale, has played a very difficult schedule, including games against Texas A&M, Minnesota, Duke and Maryland. The Big Green fell to Princeton 2-1 last Saturday in its Ivy opener. Maggie Goldstein scored the only Dartmouth goal. She leads the team with three goals.
Laurel Peak has seen a majority of the action in goal and has a 1.56 goals against average and a .721 save percentage.
The last five Yale-Dartmouth games have been decided by one goal, including a 1-0 Big Green victory last year in Hanover, N.H. Annie Stanley scored the only goal of the game late in the first half. The Big Green leads the overall series 16-14-2.
