NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Two Yale players have earned Academic All-District honors. Defender Eleni Benson was named to the first team, while Chloe Beizer earned second team recognition. To be eligible for the All-District team, a student-athlete must maintain a GPA of 3.2 or higher (on a 4.0 scale), be in their second year of participation at the school and be an important contributor to their team.
Benson, a molecular biophysics and biochemistry major, has helped anchor a Yale defense that has allowed only 10 goals. Her one goal this season was the game-winner in Yale's 1-0 overtime victory over St. John's. Benson was an honorable mention All-Ivy selection last season and played with the Greek national soccer team at the 2004 Olympics in Athens, Greece.
Beizer, an American Studies major, has compiled an impressive .808 save percentage while splitting time in goal this season for the Bulldogs.
The Bulldogs are 12-3-1 overall and can clinch the Ivy League title with a victory over Brown on Saturday at 7 p.m. at the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium.
