Huang Selected First Team All-Ivy
Nov. 13, 2003
Yale's Christina Huang (Potomac, MD) was the only freshman awarded First Team All-Ivy recognition. Sophomore Laurel Karnes (Omaha, Neb.) was selected to the Second Team. Juniors Maureen Metzger (Trumbull, CT) and Sarah Walker (Alameda, CA) received All-Ivy honorable mention recognition.
Huang was a significant contributor to the Bulldog defense and midfield in her rookie season. She tallied three assists this fall, one of which led to a Bulldog victory over Sacred Heart. Her lone goal this season came in a 3-0 win against Fairfield.
Karnes, who earned honorable mention All-Ivy recognition last year, led the team in points with 21 and goals with nine. She leads the Ivy League in game-winning goals with four.
Metzger, who started all 17 games this season, helped anchor a Yale defense that allowed only 18 goals this fall. Walker, Yale's leading goalkeeper, leads the Ivy League in saves with 82 and is second in shutouts with five. She finished the season with a goals-against average of 0.78.
Yale ended the season 9-7-1 overall, 2-4-1 in the Ivy League.
