Howser Named Finalist For Soccer Buzz Freshman Of The Year

Nov. 16, 2005

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Crysti Howser, who leads Yale in scoring with 24 points (8 goals, 8 assists), is a finalist for the Soccer Buzz national Freshman of the Year. Howser joins 14 other freshman from around the nation on the ballot. The winners will be announced in December after a vote from college coaches and the Soccer Buzz staff.

Howser, a midfielder, was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year last week. She has started 18 games this season, and two of her eight goals were game-winners. Her biggest assist of the season came when Laurel Karnes deflected in her cross with one second left in the second half as Yale edged Duke 2-1 last Sunday in the second round of the NCAA College Cup.

Notre Dame's Kerri Hanks also is a finalist for the award. The Bulldogs and Irish meet on Friday night in South Bend in a third round game.
