NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Christina Huang has added another honor to her long list of accomplishments. Huang was named first team All-Northeast Region by SoccerBuzz.com. Emma Whitfield, who led Yale in scoring with 15 points, earned second team honors.
Huang, the 2006 Yale captain, enjoyed an outstanding career for the Bulldogs. In August she was named to the Watch List for the Hermann Trophy, which is presented to the national player of the year. She also was a four-time first team All-Ivy selection, the first Yale player ever to accomplish that feat.
Whitfield, a sophomore, earned first team All-Ivy honors. She started 16 games at forward and finished in the top 10 in the Ivy League in goals (t-8th, 5), assists (t-4th, 5) and points (8th, 15). Two of her goals were game-winners, against Montana and Fairfield. In two years, she has 13 goals and seven assists.
Yale finished with an 8-7-2 overall record. It was the sixth straight year the Bulldogs had a winning mark.
