NEW HAVEN, Conn - The honors continue to roll in for the Yale women's soccer team. Crysti Howser, who led the Bulldogs in scoring with 25 points (8 goals, 9 assists) and was named the Ivy League Rookie of the Year, was selected as the Northeast Region Freshman of the Year by SoccerBuzz.com. In addition, Rudy Meredith was chosen as the Northeast Region Coach of the Year.
Yale also had three players named to All-Northeast Region first team - Howser, Christina Huang and Laurel Karnes. Eleni Benson earned second team honors. Joining Howser on the All-Northeast Region Freshman team were Emma Whitfield and Natasha Mann.
Yale, which won a school-record 15 games and reached the third round of the NCAA College Cup for the first time, was ranked 14th in the final SoccerBuzz.com national poll.
The Bulldogs captured their first Ivy League title since 1992 with a 5-1-1 league mark and finished 15-4-1 overall. In addition, Yale, which went 9-0 in the friendly confines of the Soccer-Lacrosse Stadium, hosted the first and second rounds of the NCAA College Cup.
