NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After having a midweek doubleheader postponed by rain, it's back to the road for the Yale softball team. The Bulldogs head to West Point for a pair of games against Army. The first pitch of the first game is slated for 1 p.m.

There are a number of similarities between Yale (6-6) and Army (10-8). Both teams played very well at the Rebel Games, winning six of eight games, but both have struggled outside of Florida. Each relies on a young pitching staff. All 81 of Yale innings have come from freshmen and sophomores. Army has a pair of newcomers playing key roles in the circle. Freshmen Haley Pypes and Marina Northup have combined for 71.2 innings and have 38 strikeouts.

Offensively, the Bulldogs have four players hitting better than .300 – Jennifer Ong (.400), Katie Yanagisawa (.353), Tori Balta (.345) and Christy Nelson (.316).

Amanda Nguyen leads the Black Knights with a .410 average. Alex Reynolds has a team-best 22 RBI.

Yale and Army split a doubleheader in New Haven last year. The Bulldogs lead the all-time series 21-4.
