Three From Washington, One From Massachusetts Headed To New Haven
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Head coach Barbara Reinalda will welcome four freshmen to New Haven this fall.
Here is a closer look at the Class of 2015:
Before Yale: Batted .475 with 39 RBI as a senior at Anacortes High School… Belted seven home runs as a junior… Two-time first team All-Area and second team Northwest Conference selection… Helped lead Anacortes to three district titles… Team finished fifth in the state championships three times… Played club softball for the 18-Gold Mosquito squad based out of Federal Way, Wash... Mosquitos won 2010 USSSA state championship.
Personal: Member of the Sacred Heart Church Youth Group… Helped raise $40,000 for church which went towards the construction of a new hall.
Why Yale? "I always knew I wanted to pursue the highest education I could possibly receive, so given the chance to play softball as well it made my decision to attend Yale a no-brainer. There's nowhere else I would rather spend my next four years."
Holy Names Academy
Before Yale: Batted .526 in 2010 for Holy Names Academy… Two-time all-state and first team all-region selection… Team MVP in 2010… Helped Holy Names to four Seattle Metro League titles… Holy Names finished second in the state in 2009… Played club softball for Washington Triple Threat and was the team's co-captain in 2011… Named to the all-tournament team at the 2008 NAFA Summer Nationals.
Personal: Recipient of a Washington State Honors Award and a President's Award for Educational Excellence… Volunteered at a soup kitchen… Volunteered at an Audubon summer camp, educating children about the environment.
North Reading, Mass.
Phillips Academy Andover
Before Yale: Batted .553 with a .588 on base percentage and 1.021 slugging percentage as a senior at Phillips Academy Andover… 2009 Boston Globe NEPSAC Player of the Year… Four-time Eagle Tribune All Star… Named to the Big East All-Tournament Team twice… Helped Phillips to the 2011 Big East Invitational Tournament title… Tournament runner-up in 2008 and 2010… Played club softball for Wagner's Gold, who tied for 25th at the 2010 Gold Nationals.
Personal: Worked at the New England Catching Camp as a youth instructor.

Personal: National Honor Society member… Helped coach a middle school softball team… Coach of fifth/sixth grade Math Olympiad team at Skyline Elementary School.
