Onorato Earns Ivy League Honor

Named Co-Player Of Week

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Another big week earned Yale catcher Sarah Onorato another honor. Onorato, who batted .588 in six games last week, was named the Ivy League Player of the Week. She shared the honor with Brown's Stephanie Thompson.

It also was a record-breaking week for Onorato. On Wednesday in a doubleheader with Army, she set the Yale single-season doubles record, belting her 17th of the season. She added two more in the four-game series with Brown and now has 19 on the season. She also became Yale's single-season hits leader in the series with the Bears. Her 64 hits on the season break the previous mark of 60 that was shared by Kathy Ching (1997) and Leah Kelley (2004).

Onorato also kept adding to her school-record home run total. She belted three in Sunday's doubleheader at Brown, giving her 14 for the season.

Onorato, who was honored for the second time this season, begins the week fourth in the nation in doubles per game (0.41), 13th in slugging percentage (.864) and 23rd in batting average (.435).

In addition, pitcher Rhydian Glass was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll. She was the winning pitcher in two games last week, allowing four earned runs in 15 innings (1.87 ERA).

The Bulldogs are closing out the season on Tuesday afternoon with a single game at Marist.
