Seven Newcomers Join Bulldogs
All Bring Strong Credentials To Yale
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale softball coach Jen Goodwin has welcomed seven freshmen to her roster this fall.
Here is a closer look at the Class of 2017:
Before Yale: Two-time Best Defensive Player selection at Burbank High School… Earned second team all-league recognition in 2011 and 2012… Two-time team captain… Batted .354, scored 22 runs and stole 19 bases as a senior… Helped Burbank to a 25-3 overall record and a league championship as a senior… Four-time scholar athlete selection… Played for the So Cal Sliderz 18-and-under gold team.
Personal: Brother Tyler Do played baseball at NYU Poly… Volunteered for the Compton Sheriff's Station.
Why Yale? "Because of the science and engineering programs and the opportunity to be a part of an awesome softball team."
Cary-Grove High School
Before Yale: Cary-Grove High School record holder for lowest career earned run average (0.97), career victories (89) and career shutouts (37)… Struck out 765 hitters in her career… At the plate, tied the school record with 13 career home runs… Had 83 career RBI... Three-time Illinois Coaches Association all-state selection… 2011 Northwest Herald Softball Player of the Year… Four-time Fox Valley all-conference selection… Four-year starter and letterwinner… Helped lead Cary-Grove to three conference championships… Played club softball for the Illinois Chill.
Personal: Feed My Starving Children volunteer… McHenry County Peer Jury participant… Volunteer assistant coach for 10-and-under Northern Ice Fast Pitch softball team… Has a passion for writing and is writing and editing a fictional book series.

Los Angeles, Calif.
Before Yale: Batted .491 as a senior at the Crossroads School…Three-time first team all-league selection… Named most valuable player as a senior… Two-time Silver Slugger Award winner… Selected as Rookie of the Year following freshman season… Helped Crossroads reach the quarterfinals of the state tournament in 2011.
Personal: Teaching assistant at Inglewood Middle School… Volunteer counselor at Dodgers' Youth Baseball Camp.
Why Yale? "Because I fell in love with the student body. The kids I met while touring combined a wicked sense of humor with a sincere love of learning."
Before Yale: Batted .410 with five home runs as a senior at Saint Francis High School… Two-time all-league selection… Earned second team All-Daily News honors as a sophomore… Named team's best defensive player in 2011… Played for the South Bay Stars club team… Academic All Star selection at ASA Sparkler in 2011… Co-captain of basketball team at Saint Francis as a senior… Helped lead team to first NorCal title in school history.
Personal: Volunteered at a summer camp at the Opportunities Services Center, which is part of the Innvision Shelter Network for two summers… Helped coach 12-and-under travel softball team.

I fell in love with the residential college system and felt very welcomed by the team and coaches when I visited. I look forward to living in the very diverse community that is Yale and New Haven."
Before Yale: A member of three Big East Tournament championship teams at Phillips Academy… Missed her senior year with an injury… Played club softball for Texas Glory, which has been ranked No. 10 in the nation by Triple Crown Sports.
Personal: Mentor and active participant in Phillips Academy's Girls Leadership Project… Scuba diver… Has scuba dived in the Santa Rosa Wall in Mexico and Princess Penny's Pinnacle in Grand Cayman.

Santa Monica High School
Before Yale: All-league selection as a senior at Santa Monica High School… Team captain… Led team in hit by pitches two straight years… Helped lead Santa Monica to the CIF Division IV championship game in 2013… Played club softball for the Santa Monica Shockwave.
Personal: Father David (Class of '81) was captain of the Yale water polo team… Brother Charlie (Class of 2012) played soccer at Yale… Brother Robbie Paris (Class of 2012) ran track at Harvard.

Bothell High School
Before Yale: Three-time all-conference selection at Bothell High School… Twice selected as the team's most inspirational player… Co captain as a senior… Helped lead Bothell to the best record in school history and the program's first state tournament appearance in her junior year… Played club softball for the Northwest Lady Sharks Gold… Served as a co-captain.
Personal: An FBLA (Future Business Leader of America) officer in her junior year… Model UN club and Spanish club member.
