Bulldogs Fall In Florida Finale
Central Michigan Tops Yale 6-1
CLEARWATER, Fla. – Yale saw first hand on its trip to Florida why Central Michigan is one of the top programs in the Midwest. The Chippewas advanced to the NCAA Tournament last year and seem poised to return in 2014.
Chelsea Sundberg tossed a two-hitter and CMU banged out 13 hits en route to a 6-1 victory over the Bulldogs in Yale's final game at the Michele Smith Spring Break Tournament.
It was the Chippewas' second victory over Bulldogs in Florida. CMU blanked Yale 7-0 last Tuesday at South Florida.
CMU (17-9) then scored twice in the bottom of the second and twice more in the third to seize control.
Sundberg, meanwhile, was dominant the rest of the way. She retired the last 17 Yale batters she faced.
Yale returns to New Haven on Monday and is scheduled to play its home opener, a doubleheader with Providence, on Wednesday at 2:30 p.m.
