First Appearances At Dewitt Family Field

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The season is more than a month old so it is about time for the Yale softball team to play a game at Dewitt Family Field. It will happen Friday when Cornell comes to town for a doubleheader starting at 2 p.m. The Bulldogs then host Princeton for a pair on Saturday at 12:30 p.m.

One player who hasn't minded all the time on the road is senior Tori Balta. Balta leads the team with a .339 average, which is ninth in the Ivy League. She also has six doubles, which is tied for fifth in the league.

Cornell (8-15, 0-2 Ivy) is concluding a busy week. The Big Red split a doubleheader at Georgetown on Tuesday and then lost two at George Washington on Wednesday, including a wild 16-14 decision in the second game. As always, Cornell brings a potent offense to town. The Big Red have 11 home runs on the season.

Princeton (7-17, 0-2 Ivy) is coming off a doubleheader sweep of Rider on Tuesday. Maddie Cousins leads the Tigers in hitting with a .321 average. Erica Nori leads the pitching staff in ERA (2.06) and wins (3).
