Teams Meet Wednesday

NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale softball team returns to a familiar site for a non-league doubleheader on Wednesday. The Bulldogs play two against Sacred Heart at Pioneer Park starting at 3 p.m. In March, the Bulldogs hosted the Yale Invitational at Pioneer Park as Dewitt Family Field was recovering from the long winter.

Yale is coming off a hard-fought four-game series at Ivy League leader Dartmouth. The Bulldogs had leads in two of the four games but couldn't hold on. Lauren Delgadillo had a big series, batting .444 (4-of-9), including a home run in the seventh inning that tied the score on Saturday. In addition, she drew three walks to post a .615 on base percentage in the four games. Delgadillo has now reached base at least once in 13 straight games.

Sarah Onorato (.333) and Camille Weisenbach (.333) also hit well in the series.

Tori Balta had four hits in the four games and is now hitting .367 on the season, which is tied for third in the league.

Sacred Heart (11-17) is coming off a doubleheader split with Robert Morris on Sunday. The Pioneers allow less than three earned runs per game. Justine Sibthorp is the team's leading hitter with a .325 batting average.
