Bulldogs, Rams Meet Wednesday
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – The Yale softball team plays it final non-conference games of the season on Wednesday. The Bulldogs travel to Rhode Island for a doubleheader. The first pitch of the first game is slated for 3 p.m.
Wednesday is the start of a busy stretch for Yale, which plays a home-and-home series with Brown on Friday and Saturday. The Bulldogs will be looking to end the season on a high note and build some momentum for next year. One player who has come on of late is sophomore Lauren Delgadillo. She batted .500 in the four-game series with Harvard last weekend and was named to the Ivy League Honor Roll.
Senior Tori Balta also is closing out her career in style. She is fifth in the Ivy League in batting (.364), tied for third in doubles (11), third in stolen bases (11) and ninth in hits (39).
Rhode Island was 11-28 prior to playing a single game at Boston University on Tuesday. The Rams have been led by pitcher Sam Bedore, who has 102 strikeouts in 107.1 innings. Rhode Island has struggled offensively with a .216 team batting average. The Rams have been outhomered 37-3 on the season.
