  • Paris Earns Gold Medal At Maccabiah Games
    July 17, 2017
    Rachel Paris ’17 took a summer softball trip she won’t soon forget. Paris was part of the United States team that won a gold medal at the Maccabiah Games softball tournament in Jerusalem. The U.S. won its final six games, including an 8-1 victory over Canada in the final to claim gold.
  • Spring Academic All-Ivy Announced

    The Ivy League has announced its spring Academic All-Ivy honorees, and 10 Bulldogs were recognized. Each were starters or key reserves on an officially recognized varsity team with a 3.0 or better cumulative grade point averages. Each Ivy League institution nominated five men and five women from its eligible student-athletes.
  • Five Bulldogs Earn All-Ivy Recognition

    The Yale softball team enjoyed a successful 2017 season, and five players who played key roles have been recognized by the Ivy League. Catcher Madison Sack, who led the team with seven home runs, and third baseman Allison Skinner, who batted nearly .400 in 20 league games, each earned first team All-Ivy recognition. Second baseman Laina Do, outfielder Shelby Kennedy and pitcher/utility player Francesca Casalino were named to the second team.
  • Skinner Sets High Goals As 2017-18 Captain

    Allison Skinner has benefitted from some very gifted mentors in her Yale softball career. Sarah Onorato ’15, Allie Souza ’16 and Camille Weisenbach ’17 have provided the Bulldogs with outstanding leadership as captains over the last three years. Now it will be Skinner’s turn. She was announced as the 2017-18 captain at the annual team banquet last week, and she is eager to put what she has learned from her predecessors to good use.
  • Team Awards Announced At Annual Post Season Banquet

    The Yale softball team gathered one final time in the Varsity Room of the Ray Tompkins House on Wednesday to celebrate a very successful 2017 season. The Bulldogs finished with their best Ivy League record since 2009 and entered the last day of the regular season still in contention for the North Division title.

  • Successful Season Ends With Doubleheader Loss At Brown

    A highly successful season for the Yale softball team ended in disappointing fashion with the Bulldogs dropping a doubleheader at Brown. The 7-2 loss in the opener ended Yale’s hope of a North Division title. The Bears won the second game 3-0.
  • Senior Day Sweep; Bulldogs Stay Alive In North Division
    April 29, 2017
    Yale’s quest for the Ivy League North Division title will come down to the final day of the regular season. The Bulldogs stayed alive with a doubleheader sweep of Brown on a picture-perfect Senior Day at DeWitt Family Field. Shelby Kennedy and Rachel Paris each knocked in two runs as the Bulldogs won the first game 6-4. Paris and Allison Skinner had three RBI apiece in the second game, a 7-5 Yale victory.

    It could be an extra special Senior Weekend for the Yale softball team. The Bulldogs are still very much alive in the race for the Ivy League North Division crown as they get set to close out the regular season with a four-game series against Brown. The first two games are slated for DeWitt Family Field on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. The two teams then travel to Providence for a doubleheader on Sunday, also a 12:30 p.m. start. The Ivy League Digital Network has video of all four games.
  • Do Named Ivy League Player Of Week

    Laina Do had the biggest hit of Yale’s season thus far, a grand slam in the second game on Sunday as the Bulldogs knocked off Dartmouth to remain alive in the Ivy League North Division. That performance helped Do earn the league’s player of the week award.
  • Long Ball Lifts Bulldogs To Doubleheader Sweep Of Dartmouth

    Two swings of the bat went a long way in helping Yale stay alive in the race for the Ivy League North Division title. Madison Sack’s three-run homer in the bottom of the sixth inning lifted the Bulldogs to a 3-2 win over Dartmouth in the first game of a doubleheader. Laina Do then belted a grand slam in the fifth inning of the second game as Yale completed the sweep with a 6-3 win.
  • Bulldogs Erupt For 10 Runs In Second Game; Earn Split With Dartmouth

    The many former Yale players that came out for Alumni Day at DeWitt Family Field saw the current Bulldogs put on an offensive show. Yale scored 10 runs on nine hits en route to a 10-2, five-inning victory over Ivy League North Division leader Dartmouth in the second game of a doubleheader.
  • First Place Dartmouth Visits For Four Games On Alumni Weekend

    The Yale softball team faces a big challenge this weekend when Ivy League North Division leader Dartmouth visits for four games. The two teams play doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday with the first pitch slated for 12:30 p.m. on both days. The Ivy League Digital Network has video for the entire weekend. In addition, Saturday is Alumni Day and a good number of former players are expected to be on hand.
  • Freshmen Spark Bulldogs In Doubleheader Split With Sacred Heart

    With temperatures in the mid 40s and a stiff breeze blowing, it felt more like mid-March at DeWitt Family Field on Wednesday. The reality is Yale is approaching the final two weeks of the regular season, so what better time for the freshmen to show off their development. Olivia Vinyard’s two-out single to right field scored Annie Tarte with the winning run in the bottom of the eighth inning as the Bulldogs edged Sacred Heart 3-2 in the first game of a doubleheader. That made a winner of Mary Baumann, who pitched four innings of two-hit relief. Throw in three sacrifice bunts from Lindsay Kuss and a pair of quality at bats from Giovy Webb in the second game, and it was a very productive day for the Class of 2020.

    The final scheduled non-league date of the season brings Sacred Heart to DeWitt Family Field for a doubleheader on Wednesday. The first pitch of the first game is slated for 3 p.m.
  • Skinner Extends Hitting Streak; Bulldogs Fall At Harvard

    Allison Skinner continued her assault on Ivy League pitching and extended her hitting streak to 10 games, but Yale dropped a pair of one-run decisions at Harvard. The Crimson won both games 5-4. The second game went nine innings.

    The biggest inning of the season came at a very opportune time for the Yale softball team. The Bulldogs erupted for 10 runs in the second inning en route to a 14-6, 5-inning victory over Harvard to earn a split of a key Ivy League doubleheader.
  • North Division Play Kicks Off With Four Games At Harvard

    None of the four teams in the Ivy League North Division managed to seize control during eight games against the South Division. Only two games separate the first-place team from fourth place. That just adds to the importance of inter-division play that starts this weekend. Yale will travel to Harvard for back-to-back doubleheaders on Saturday and Sunday against the Crimson. The first pitch on both days is slated for 12:30 p.m. and the Ivy League Digital Network has the video.

    An emotional day for the Yale softball team ended in joy. Annie Tarte’s RBI single capped a three-run sixth inning as the Bulldogs rallied for a wild 12-11 victory over equally emotional Quinnipiac at DeWitt Family Field.

    Due to the forecast for early rain, Yale and Quinnipiac will now play just one game on Wednesday. The first pitch at DeWitt Family Field has been pushed back to 4 p.m. The Bulldogs will look to build on the momentum from Saturday’s dominant doubleheader sweep of Columbia.   • Bats Come Alive In Doubleheader Sweep Of Columbia

    Yale took it to one of the hottest teams in the Ivy League on Saturday at Dewitt Family Field. The Bulldogs banged out 20 hits and scored 19 runs in a doubleheader sweep of Columbia, who had won five of its first six league games. Francesca Casalino had three hits and pitched a complete game to lead Yale to a 7-2 win in the first game. The Bulldogs then scored 11 runs in the first two innings of the second game en route to an easy 12-2 victory.
  • Kennedy Has Big Day Vs. Penn

    More than a month into the season, Yale finally got to play in the friendly confines of Dewitt Family Field for the first time. Shelby Kennedy sure made the most of the home cooking. Kennedy had five hits, but unfortunately for the Bulldogs, it wasn’t enough to avoid a doubleheader sweep at the hands of Penn. The Quakers won the first game 4-1 and then came from behind to win the second game 8-6.
  • Opening Home Weekend Brings Visits From Penn, Columbia

    Yale wraps up play against the Ivy League South Division and finally gets some home games when Penn and Columbia come to Dewitt Family Field this weekend. The Bulldogs and Quakers are scheduled to meet in a doubleheader on Friday starting at 2 p.m. before the Lions visit for a pair on Saturday at 12:30 p.m. All four games can be seen on the Ivy League Digital Network, the inaugural softball broadcasts on the ILDN.
  • Casalino Homers But Bulldogs Fall At Princeton

    A pair of Princeton pitchers cooled off Yale’s hot bats, at least for one day. After scoring 12 runs and banging out 22 hits in Saturday’s sweep at Cornell, the Bulldogs were limited to one run and four hits in losing a pair of games to the Tigers.

    It took a little extra work, but Yale is off and running in Ivy League play. Allison Skinner’s bunt single scored Laina Do in the 11th inning as the Bulldogs rallied for a 5-4 victory over Cornell in the first game of the Ivy opening doubleheader. Yale then completed the sweep with a 7-1 win as Skinner and Carlin Hagmeier each homered.

    The Yale softball team finds itself in a familiar place on the opening weekend of Ivy League play – away from home. The Bulldogs, who haven’t had a game in the friendly confines of Dewitt Family Field yet this spring, kick off the league season with doubleheaders at Cornell on Saturday and at Princeton on Sunday.     A look at Friday’s weather.com forecast for Ithaca, New York, shows a 100 percent chance of rain. As a result, the Yale softball team will now play its Ivy League opening doubleheader at Cornell on Saturday beginning at 12:30 p.m. The Bulldogs will play twice at Princeton on Sunday, also beginning at 12:30 p.m.
  • Weisenbach’s Hit In Eighth Lifts Yale Over Rider

    Yale will enter Ivy League play with positive momentum. Camille Weisenbach singled home Annie Tarte in the eighth inning to snap a scoreless tie and help Yale earn a doubleheader split with a 1-0 victory over Rider in Lawrenceville, New Jersey.

    The ever-changing Northeast weather has forced a change to Yale’s softball schedule this weekend. The Bulldogs have added a doubleheader at Rider on Saturday that will begin at 1 p.m. Sunday’s scheduled doubleheader at Wagner has been cancelled.
