One big inning helped No. 13 James Madison to a victory over Yale on the opening day of the Tiger Invitational at Auburn's gorgeous Jane B. Moore Field. The Dukes, who were playing their 11th game of the season, scored five runs in the third inning en route to an 8-3 victory.

The Bulldogs, playing their season opener, managed seven hits. Allison Skinner was 3-for-3 and drew a walk to pace Yale.

The Bulldogs struck first with a run in the first inning. Laina Do singled and advanced to second when Skinner walked. Terra Jerpbak followed with an RBI single to left.

The Dukes tied it in second and then scored five times in the third. The big hit in the third was Niki Prince's two-run double.

After JMU added a run in the top of the six, Yale answered with one run in the bottom of the sixth. Jerpbak walked and pinch-runner Olivia Vinyard scored when Camille Weisenbach reached on an error.

Carlin Hagmeier scored Yale's final run in the bottom of the seventh.

Sydney Glover and Shelby Kennedy also had hits for the Bulldogs.
