Three-Game Sweep Complete; Bulldogs Rout Cornell 10-1

Grobman, Ponce Homer, Jerpbak Tosses Five Strong Innings

It was another big offensive day for the Bulldogs. Sydney Grobman and Kortney Ponce homered as Yale completed a three-game sweep of Cornell with a 10-1, 5-inning victory in Ithaca.

Terra Jerpbak pitched all five innings, struck out seven and allowed only one run.

The Bulldogs, who improved to 6-3 in Ivy League play, again got contributions up and down the lineup, finishing with 12 hits. Ponce was 3-for-3 and knocked in three runs, Shelby Kennedy and Olivia Vinyard each were 2-for-4, while Jerpbak, Carlin Hagmaier, Maya Seifert and Annie Tarte all had one hit. Eight of nine players in the lineup scored at least once.

Yale took charge early, scoring four runs in the first inning and adding three in the second.

Grobman's homer was a three-run blast in the second inning, while Ponce hit a solo shot in the fourth inning.

In the three-game sweep, the Bulldogs outscored the Big Red 37-11, hit six home runs and had 45 hits.

Yale takes a break from Ivy League play to host Quinnipiac in a doubleheader on Wednesday. The first pitch of the first game is set for 3 p.m.
