Bulldogs, Pioneers Play Doubleheader Wednesday
NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Yale wraps up non-conference play with a visit from Sacred Heart on Wednesday. The Bulldogs and Pioneers meet for two games at 5K Corral Field at DeWitt Family Stadium starting at 3 p.m.
Three Bulldogs – Annie Tarte, Nic Conway and Miranda Papes - were named to the Ivy League Honor Roll on Monday following a three-game series at Brown. Tarte batted .333 (4-for-12) with a triple against the Bears, while Conway and Papes both shined in the circle. Conway tossed eight strong innings, yielding just four hits in the second game on Saturday, and Papes pitched a complete-game three-hitter in Sunday's 4-2 victory.
Tarte has reached base at least once in 11 straight games, one of three Bulldogs with a current double figure streak. Olivia Vinyard has a 14-game streak, while Shelby Kennedy is at 13 straight games.
First year Maya Seifert also has been hot at the plate. She is riding a six-game hitting streak.
Sacred Heart (21-21) has won four of its last five games, including a doubleheader sweep at Saint Francis on Saturday. The Pioneers feature a pair of big hitters in Hailey Desrosiers (.406 average) and Katelyn Christian (.321, 6 home runs).
As a team, SHU has belted 25 home runs.
Wednesday's doubleheader is the start of a busy week at 5K Corral Field for the Bulldogs, who host a three-game series with Columbia starting on Saturday.
