Meserve started all 50 games in centerfield last season and belted a career-high three home runs. She also had career bests in hits (32), doubles (5) and RBI (17). In a doubleheader with Quinnipiac she homered in both games, including a three-run blast in the nightcap. Her other home run came against Sacred Heart. In an 8-3 win over Wagner, she knocked in a career-high four runs. She finished the season with seven multi-hit games. As a sophomore, Meserve earned honorable mention All-Ivy recognition as a utility player. She appeared at a number of different positions and was fifth on the team in batting average (.245) and third in RBI (11). Her top performance came against Penn when she went 3-for-4 with a walk. In her freshman season, Meserve was the recipient of the Coaches Award, which is bestowed upon the player who represents the ideals of Yale softball that go beyond statistics, the player who has shown commitment and dedication through her actions on and off the field, whether as a role player or a starter. At Ticonderoga High School, she captained the softball, soccer and basketball squads. She was a first team all-state selection in softball, and earned all-area honors in each of her four years, playing catcher and shortstop. Meserve led the squad to the regional championship in 2002 and 2003 and the league championship in 2000 and 2001. Kate resides in Morse College and is the daughter of Don and Mary Meserve.
