Miles, the team captain, has been a regular in Yale's rotation since her arrival at Yale. Last year, her top performance came in the season finale against Fairleigh Dickinson when she pitched a complete game, allowed five hits, one earned run and struck out four in the Bulldogs' 6-1 victory. Miles was the recipient of the Coaches Award, which is bestowed upon the player on the team who represents the ideals of Yale softball that go beyond statistics, and who has shown commitment and dedication through her actions on and off the field, whether as a role player or a starter. As a sophomore Miles was one of Yale's top pitchers and shared the Most Improved Player honors. She led the pitching staff in wins (9) and was second in innings pitched (99), shutouts (2) and strikeouts (63). Against Sacred Heart she tossed a two-hit shutout with a career-high 11 strikeouts. She also pitched a one-hitter against St. John's. Miles had a strong rookie season for the Bulldogs. She was third on the team in wins (7), ERA (3.28) and strikeouts (35).
Miles had an outstanding career at Capistrano Valley High School. She was a three-time all-league selection and a four-time team MVP. As a senior she helped lead Capistrano Valley to the first round of the California state tournament and was the team captain. She is the daughter of Dale and Michaele Miles.
