Detroit Mercy Edges Yale On Late Homer

KISSIMMEE, Fla. - Kristin Martin hit a two-out, two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh inning as Detroit Mercy edged Yale 4-3 at the Rebel Games. Aracelis Torres had homered in the top of the seventh to give the Bulldogs a 3-2 lead. Torres and Christina Guerland each had three hits for Yale. The Bulldogs were also supposed to play Creighton but that game was postponed by rain.

Yale opened the scoring in the fourth. Emily Lederer led off with a single, moved to second on Kate Meserve's sacrifice bunt and scored on Guerland's single.

The Bulldogs scored again in the fifth. Niki Haab doubled and scored on Torres' double. Detroit Mercy, though, scored twice in the sixth to tie it.

Jessica Meyer went the distance on the mound for the Bulldogs and allowed only two earned runs.

The Bulldogs had a season-high 11 hits in the game.

Yale is off until Saturday. The Bulldogs play Fairliegh Dickinson at 2:20 p.m. and Toledo at 4:10 p.m.
