Game 1 Box Score | Game 2 Box Score

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. - It was another heartbreaking Sunday afternoon for the Bulldogs. Marist's Jessica Green hit a three-run home run in the bottom of the seventh inning to lift the Red Foxes to a 4-1 victory over Yale in the first game of a doubleheader, and Katie Eskin led off the bottom of the ninth inning of the second game with a solo homer to give Marist a 3-2 victory.

The Bulldogs also dropped a doubleheader last Sunday at St. John's. The Red Storm won both games in its final at bat.

Megan Rigos, who entered the weekend with a 0.71 earned run average, pitched brilliantly for the Red Foxes (11-5) in the first game. She went the distance, allowed three hits and struck out five.

One of the three hits she yielded was a solo home run to Aracelis Torres in the top of the first.

Yale had a chance to increase the lead in the second. Katie Edwards was hit by a pitch leading off the inning and Megan Enyeart walked. Courtney Blachford followed with a sacrifice bunt, but Rigos retired the next two hitters.

Yale's Rebecca Wojciak matched Rigos, but also made one mistake. It came in the third when Chrystine McHugh hit a homer to left-center. Wojciak pitched five innings, scattered six hits and struck out two.

In the bottom of the seventh, McHugh led off with a walk and moved to second on Christine Jakobson's bunt single. After Jamie Green laid down a sacrifice bunt, Green ended the game with a home run to left.

Kyli Hanson and Enyeart also had hits for the Bulldogs (15-9).

In the second game, Yale trailed 2-0 after three innings but tied it in the fourth. Edwards led off with her fifth home run of the season. Enyeart then walked and later scored when Kate Meserve reached on an error.

The Bulldogs' best scoring chance the rest of the way came in the ninth. Danielle Kozlowski led off with a single. With two out, she stole second but was left stranded.

Eskin then hit a long fly ball just inside the left field foul pole to end the game.

Caitlin Carpentier was the winning pitcher in relief. She went 4.1 innings, allowed only one hit and struck out seven.

Peggy Hunt pitched eight innings for Yale and struck out four. Hunt also had one of Yale's six hits, a single in the third.

The Bulldogs are back in action on Wednesday when they play a doubleheader at Army beginning at 3 p.m.
