NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale made sure it will enter Ivy League play with positive momentum after a doubleheader sweep of Army on Wednesday. The Bulldogs scored three times in the bottom of the seventh inning to erase a 4-2 deficit and win the first game 5-4 and then cruised to an 11-3 victory in the second game. Yale had 24 hits in the two games.

Ashley Sloan tripled to start the winning rally in the first game. Katie Yanagisawa followed with an RBI single. After Aracelis Torres singled, Megan Enyeart's double plated Yanagisawa to tie the score at 4-4. Torres then scored the winning run on a wild pitch.

Torres was 4-for-4 and scored twice, while Enyeart added three hits.

Some shaky Yale defense allowed Army to score four unearned runs in the first two innings. The Bulldogs, though, got two back in the fourth on Mariclaire Rebman's two-out, two-run single.

Deanna DiBernardi started in the circle and allowed only three hits in 5.1 innings. Kayla Kuretich pitched 1.2 innings of scoreless relief to earn her team-leading fourth win of the season.

Yale (10-8) also had to come from behind in the second game after Army scored three times in the first. This time, though, the Bulldogs didn't wait as long as they scored six times in the second inning.

Rebman started the rally with a single and moved to second on McKynlee Westman's sacrifice bunt. After Allie Canulli singled, Katie Edwards knocked home the first run with a single. Nicole Wolfe followed with an RBI double, and Sloan's single plated Edwards to tie the score at 3-3. Wolfe then scored on a wild pitch, and Torres singled home Sloan. Rebman's second hit of the inning, an RBI single to left, capped the scoring.

The Bulldogs tacked on two more in the third and then ended the game by scoring three times in the fifth. Westman opened the fifth with a single to right and moved to third on Canulli's double. Courtney Blachford followed with an RBI single off the third base bag. Sloan's RBI single to left made it 10-3, and Torres drew a walk with the bases loaded to force home the final run.

Rebecca Wojciak pitched the first four innings, allowing three hits and two earned runs, to earn the victory. KR Ling came on and retired the Black Knights in order in the fifth.

Sloan went 2-for-4 with three RBI for the Bulldogs. Rebman and Canulli also had two hits.

Yale opens Ivy League play on Saturday with a doubleheader at Penn beginning at 12:30 p.m. The Bulldogs then play a pair at Columbia on Sunday, also starting at 12:30 p.m.
