STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. - Kyli Hanson singled in each game to extend her hitting streak to 11, but Yale lost a non-league doubleheader at Wagner. Morgan Miller pitched a six-hitter in the first game, an 8-1 Seahawk victory, and Victoria Batistelli homered in the second game to lead Wagner to a 7-4 win.
Yale (18-14) jumped out to a 1-0 lead in the first inning of the opener. Hanson singled, stole second and scored on Enyeart's double to right center.
Wagner, though, answered with four runs in the bottom of the inning. The big blow was Batistelli's three-run homer.
The Seahawks (15-15) added another run in the third and nearly scored two more, but Sloan robbed Ami Iwicki of a home run by making a leaping catch at the centerfield fence.
Yale also grabbed the early lead in the second game. Sloan led off with a triple and scored on Hanson's sacrifice fly.
After Wagner scored twice in the second, the Bulldogs regained the lead with a three-run third. Parks doubled and moved to third on Sloan's single. With two out, Hanson singled home Parks. Sloan and Hanson executed a double steal to account for the second run, and Enyeart followed with an RBI single. Katie Edwards then walked and Tracy Timm singled to load the bases. Wagner pitcher Danielle Wagoner, though, worked out of further trouble.
Batistelli's two-run homer in the bottom of the third gave the Seahawks a 5-4 lead.
Wagner added two more runs in the fourth. Iwicki doubled and scored on a wild pitch, and Natalie Stephens doubled and scored on Lacey Santone's squeeze bunt.
The game was called after Yale batted in the fifth because of darkness.
The Bulldogs return to Ivy League play this weekend with doubleheaders at Dartmouth on both Saturday and Sunday.
