PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Megan Enyeart and Kyli Hanson each had three hits but Yale dropped a doubleheader to Providence at Raymond Field. The Friars used a six-run third inning en route to a 7-1 victory in the first game. In the second game, Jenna Garcia hit a pair of solo home runs to lead the Friars to an 8-0 win.
Samantha Pittman and Gina Rossi both had RBI hits in PC's six-run inning in the first game. The Friars also benefited from four Yale errors in the inning.
The Bulldogs (18-20) scored their run in the fourth. Enyeart led off with a single and moved to second when the ball got past rightfielder Caroline Santilli. Two batters later, Jessica Meyer delivered an RBI single to center.
Yale outhit the Friars 9-7. Meyer was 2-for-3, while Hanson and Enyeart were each 2-for-4. Ashley Sloan, Christina Guerland and Courtney Blachford also had hits for the Bulldogs. Blachford also made a fine catch just in front of the left-field fence in the sixth inning.
Garcia's first homer gave the Friars a 1-0 lead in the third inning of the second game, and she homered again leading off the fourth to make it 3-0. The Friars tacked on three more runs in the fourth and added two in the fifth.
Hanson doubled with two out in the first inning, and Enyeart singled leading off the second for Yale.
The Bulldogs close out the season with four games against Brown this weekend. The teams play a doubleheader in Providence on Saturday and then have a twinbill in New Haven on Sunday. The action starts at 1 p.m. on both days.
