Greer, Toomey Advance To Quarterfinals Of Individual Championships

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Sarah Toomey and Logan Greer both advanced to the quarterfinals in the Ramsay Division of the CSA Women's Individual Championships on Friday, winning two matches apiece.

Of Yale's four entrants into the Ramsay field of 32, three won their first round matches.  Logan Greer, Sarah Toomey and Alia Aziz all won 3-0, while Rhetta Nadas fell in three games to second-seeded Pamela Hathway of Trinity.  In second-round play, Greer was pushed to five games before punching her ticket to the quarterfinals with a victory.  Teammates Aziz and Toomey played each other in the round of 16, with Toomey emerging victorious in four games.  Ramsay quarterfinal and semifinal play will occur Saturday at Trinity's Kellner Squash Center, with the championship match Sunday.

All four Bulldogs in the Holleran Division advanced out of the first round.  Eighth-seeded Katie Ballaine received a first round bye.  Alexandra Van Arkel won in four games, while Katie Harrison and Caroline Reigeluth both turned in 3-0 victories to advance.  Unfortunately for Bulldog fans, all four players were eliminated in the second round.  Ballaine and Van Arkel lost in five games, Reigeluth in four and Harrison in three.
