Bulldogs Back from One-Month Break

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The No. 2 Yale women's squash team hopes to continue its strong start after a one-month break, and is set to play No. 14 Amherst, No. 9 Williams and No. 8 Dartmouth this Friday and Saturday. This season, the Bulldogs have already posted strong wins against Harvard and Dartmouth in the Ivy Scrimmage and Penn and Bates in the regular season.

Yale's victory over Penn came after four straight years of losses to the Quakers, exhibiting Yale's depth. Senior captain Logan Greer, ranked No. 3 in the country in the most recent CSA individual rankings, won at No. 1 with a convincing 3-0 score. Greer's teammate, senior Sarah Toomey, was ranked right behind her at No. 4; both were 2010 CSA First-Team All-Americans last season.

Yale faced off against Williams and Dartmouth last year at the Brady Squash Center, defeating both teams convincingly.  Yale bested Williams 8-1, sweeping the No. 2 through 9 positions, posting eight 3-0 victories. Later in the season, Yale defeated Dartmouth 9-0. Yale lost only two games throughout the entire match against Dartmouth. The Big Green feature Valeria Wiens, who was No. 5 in the most recent CSA rankings.

Two years ago, Yale defeated Amherst 9-0.

Yale plays Amherst (11 a.m., a change from the original time of Noon) and Williams (5 p.m.) on Friday, then plays at Dartmouth Saturday (11 a.m.).
