NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Sunday afternoon, the No. 2 Yale women's squash team improved to 7-0 with a victory over No. 10 Williams.
The Yale squad had sophomore Kim Hay playing at No. 1, where she defeated Williams' top player in Alli Rubin by a score of 11-5, 11-3, 11-2. Hay remained undefeated on the season, along with the rest of the group that has seen the most time in the top nine positions.
At No. 2, senior captain Rhetta Nadas won her match over Courtney Bogle 11-3, 11-1, 11-9.
At No. 3, senior Alexandra van Arkel pulled out a five set nail-biter. She won the first two games 11-9, 11-8, but then lost the next two by the exact same scores before coming back to win the fifth game 11-6 to clinch the match.
At Nos. 4-8, junior Katie Ballaine, freshman Shihui Mao, senior Aly Kerr, freshman Anna Harrison and junior Kate Harrison all won their matches with relative ease to remain undefeated, only allowing their opponents more than six points in a game once.
At No. 9, Yale suffered its first loss of the year in an extremely close match between sophomore Coco Seibert and Williams' Eliana Saltzman. Seibert went ahead 11-7, 11-5, but was unable to close out her opponent in the next three sets.
