PHILADELPHIA — No. 5 Yale returned to action with a pair of victories this Wednesday, defeating No. 13 Franklin and Marshall and No 14. Drexel.
The day began with a convincing victory against No. 13 Franklin and Marshall. As in their first two matches of the season, the Bulldogs won all 27 games on the way to a 9-0 sweep, improving to 3-0 while the Diplomats fell to 2-3.
In the second match of the day, Yale swept No. 14 Drexel, once again taking all 27 games of the contest to win 9-0. The closest battle of the day came in the No. 3 slot, as junior Shihui Mao prevailed 11-8, 11-5, 11-7 against Drexel's Laura Rahauser. With this victory, Yale improved to 4-0 as Drexel sank to 2-6.
The Bulldogs return to action this Saturday in the Ivy League season opener, in which they will host No. 11 Columbia at 12 p.m. in the Brady Squash Center. Yale will finish its four-match week on Sunday with a 12 p.m. contest against No. 6 Cornell.
