NEW HAVEN, Conn. — Bouncing back from a tough defeat against No. 2 Trinity on Wednesday, No. 5 Yale posted two 9-0 victories Friday against No. 7 Stanford and No 19. St. Lawrence at the Brady Squash Center.
Yale (10-1, 2-0) put together strong performances in both contests. In the first match of the day, Yale faced Stanford, pitting Yale coach Dave Talbott against his brother, Stanford coach Mark Talbott. While Stanford managed to stretch the No. 2, 3 and 4 matchups to four games, Yale took the rest in straight sets for a comfortable 9-0 win.
Against St. Lawrence (2-4), Yale fielded a younger, less experienced lineup that did not disappoint, winning 27 of 28 games on the way to victory. In the seventh position, junior Anna Harrison only conceded one point as she dispatched her opponent 11-0, 11-1, 11-0.
This strong display puts the Bulldogs back on track heading into Saturday's matches. Yale will begin play against No. 12 George Washington at 2 p.m. before finishing the weekend against No. 17 Middlebury at 4:30 p.m. Both contests will be held at the Brady Squash Center.
