WASHINGTON, D.C.— Sophomore Helen Teegan, the only Yale squash player who advanced to the semifinal round of competition at the 2018 College Squash Individual Championships, fell today in an intense match with Harvard's Eleonore Evans.
Teegan performed well at the national tournament, with wins in the initial and quarterfinal rounds of the Holleran North bracket.
Saturday's match proved more challenging for Teegan, who played at the top of Yale's lineup for the majority of the season. Evans, a member of the national champion Harvard Crimson women's squash team, took control of the match from the first game with momentum that was difficult to match. Despite a concentrated effort, Teegan could not recover and lost in three games.
Loss notwithstanding, Teegan still ended her season in the top four players of her bracket, a notable achievement at the competitive individual nationals.
