Columbia No Match for Bulldogs

Elis Continue Strong Ivy Play

NEW YORK, Ny. — The Yale Women's Squash team defeated No. 7 Columbia 7-2 on Saturday afternoon. The Elis are now 3-1 in Ivy League play this season.

Four of the 10 Bulldogs swept their opponents,including No. 1 Lucy Beecroft, who blanked No. 27 in the nation Madlen O'Connor. No. 4 Emily Sherwood, No. 8 Nikita Joshi and No. 10 Ainsley Weber also won their matches 3-0.

No. 2 Helen Teegan and No. 7 Alexis Lazor both won tight matches. After losing her first game 3-11, Teegan came back to win three close games in a row (11-9, 12-10, 11-9). 

Lazor traded victories with her opponent in the early going, which led to a 2-2 tie going into the final game. Lazor ended up pulling out a victory in the longest match of the afternoon, winning 16-14. 

The Elis look to continue their excellent league play at Cornell tomorrow. The match is set to start at noon EST.
