Yale Beats Big Green, 8-1

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Yale improved its Ivy League record to 2-1 Saturday afternoon, defeating Dartmouth by the score of 8-1. The Bulldogs' top three players - Miranda Ranieri, Logan Greer, and Sarah Toomey - all won their matches in three games.

Ranieri defeated Ashley Malenchak, 9-4, 9-6, 9-1, Greer beat Rebecca Loucks, 9-0, 9-1, 9-0, and Toomey downed Madeline Lurio, 9-1, 9-3, 9-4.

No. 4 Alia Aziz battled through a tough first two games in her match with Hannah Conant, winning the first game 9-7 and dropping the second one, 10-8. Aziz then won the final two games, 9-1, 9-0 to take the match.

No. 7 Elisabeth Hill nearly pulled off an epic comeback in her match. After falling behind two games to none against Maura Doherty, Hill won the third and fourth games by 9-1 scores. The momentum did not carry over into the fifth, unfortunately, as Doherty won the game 9-6 and the match.

The Bulldogs will play Bowdoin tomorrow at 12:30 p.m. before hosting the Trinity Bantams on Wednesday at 5 p.m.
