Yale Cruises to 8-1 Victory Over Brown

Feb. 10, 2007

New Haven, CT - Coming off a disappointing loss to Princeton last week, Yale (10-3, 3-2 Ivy) responded by defeating Brown 8-1 today at home. Six of the eight Bulldog victories came in three games.

No. 1 Catherine McLeod, No. 3 Lauren McCrery, No. 4 Alia Aziz, No. 5 Kate Rapisarda, No. 6 Nicola Shiels and No. 8 Elisabeth Hill all won their matches by the score of 3-0. McLeod led the way for Yale at No. 1 with a 9-1, 9-0, 9-0 victory over Brown's Erin Andrews. McCrery dominated Brown's Breck Haynes at No. 3 9-0, 9-0, 9-1.

Head Coach Dave Talbott said the victory is an important one for Yale with the Harvard match coming up this Wednesday. Talbott pointed out that Yale matches up well against Harvard.

"If we can get that match, the Howe Cup is still wide open," Talbott said. "We are healthy and in a good place to go up there. Hopefully the women will get on a roll going into the Howe Cup Championship."

The roll must continue this Wednesday when the Bulldogs travel to Cambridge to face Harvard.
