Bulldogs, Crimson Square Off In Late-Season Showdown

Feb. 11, 2008

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - On Wednesday, men's and women's squash will face off against Harvard in each team's last regular-season match, with Ivy League positioning and postseason seeding implications at stake for both teams. The showdown between the Bulldogs and Crimson will be available to watch via live video stream on goyalebulldogs.com.

The men are currently tied for second with Harvard in the Ivy League standings, with each team sitting at 4-1. Yale, however, boasts a gaudier 10-2 record, compared to Harvard's 5-2 overall mark.

Though the draws are already set for this weekend's CSA team championships - No. 4 Yale faces No. 5 Western Ontario in the first round - the Bulldogs can still gain some momentum with a win against the Crimson on Wednesday.

The women's Ivy League and posteason pictures are a bit less clear. Yale, Harvard, and Trinity all currently sit in a tie for third in the CSA women's national rankings. Yale and Harvard are also tied for third in the Ivy League standings with 3-2 records in the Ancient Eight. The Bulldogs boast a 10-2 overall record, while Harvard is 5-3. With Trinity squaring off with No. 2 Princeton on Sunday, the No. 3 seed in next week's Howe Cup will likely emerge from Wednesday's match.

Four-time all-Ivy squash player and former Bulldog John Musto will call the action from Court One on Wednesday. Audio commentary and live updates from the other courts will be available via Yale All*Access on goyalebulldogs.com.

Introductions will begin at 5 p.m., with the matches to follow.
