McLeod, Ranieri Receive All-Ivy Honors
March 8, 2007
New Haven, CT - Senior Catherine McLeod and junior Miranda Ranieri were named to the 2007 Women's Squash All-Ivy Team after leading Yale to a fourth place finish this season. McLeod finished the season with a 10-1 overall record, including a 5-1 record against Ivy League opponents. Ranieri finished the season with a 9-4 overall record, including a 5-3 Ivy League record.
McLeod and Ranieri split time at the No. 1 and No. 2 spots, but for the majority of the season it was McLeod who played at No. 1 and Ranieri who played at No. 2. McLeod started the season 8-0 at No. 1, having only dropped one game the whole season at that spot, before losing to Harvard's Kyla Grigg in the Harvard match February 21. McLeod, the No. 3 seed in the Ramsay Division (women's A) at the CSA Individual Championships, was a favorite to win the tournament before losing in the quarterfinals to Princeton's Neha Kumar.
Ranieri, the No. 8 seed in the CSA Individual Championships, also advanced to the quarterfinals before losing to the eventual tournament winner, No. 1 seed Kyla Grigg of Harvard.
McLeod and Ranieri were integral parts of Yale's fourth place overall finish in the Howe Cup, the women's squash National Championships. Both players came up with key victories in Yale's first round 5-4 win over Trinity.
