New Haven, Conn. - Tara Wadhwa, a junior Literature major from Wappingers Falls, NY, will serve as the captain for the Yale women's squash team for the 2008-09 season. Wadhwa will take over for captain Miranda Ranieri, who led Yale to a third place finish in the Howe Cup.
Wadhwa will attempt to lead the Bulldogs to a National Championship for the first time since 2006. Wadhwa and Jessica Balderston will compose the senior class for the Bulldogs for the next season. Wadhwa will lead a young team that currently starts three freshmen in the top five and will add five more freshmen next season.
"Tara's strengths on court are her technique, experience, and ability to control the court," head coach Dave Talbott said "Tara will do a good job of leading a young team and a large freshman class. Her experience on and off the court will be a great asset for this program."
