NEW HAVEN, Conn. – After racing four dual meets in the space of two weeks, the Yale women's swimming and diving team will shift gears this weekend when the Bulldogs take part in Boston University's three-day Terrier Invite.  The championship-style meet will be a change of pace for the Bulldogs, who will have to swim in heats and finals on each day of competition.  Not only will this meet be good preparation for the Ivy League Championships next February, but it will also prime Yale's top tier of swimmers for the Winter National Championships coming up in December.

The Bulldogs kicked off the season with a decidedly successful three-scrimmage homestand, but fell short of a win last Friday at Columbia.  Columbia won by a margin of 161.5-138.5, but Yale will get another chance to square off against the Lions this weekend as the two teams represent the Ivy League in Boston.  Other teams with the Terrier Invitational on their schedule include Boston College, Central Connecticut, Drexel, Holy Cross, New Hampshire, and of course the BU Terriers.

The diving side of the team will not be competing this weekend, but junior Paige Meneses and senior captain Rachel Rosenberg have already positioned themselves well for next spring.  The pair met the qualification standard for the NCAA Zone Diving Championships on three meter last week against Columbia.

Last year Yale finished fifth out of eight total schools competing at the Terrier Invitational, with BU defending its home pool in first position.  The Bulldogs claimed first-place finishes in three individual events and one relay event.  The quartet of junior Alexandra Forrester, junior Cynthia Tsay, junior Joan Weaver and sophomore Hayes Hyde finished first in the 800-yard freestyle relay ahead of four of BU's fastest swimmers.  The individual wins all belonged to Forrester, who took the top spot in the 100-yard butterfly, 200-yard butterfly and 200-yard freestyle.

The Bulldogs will open at the Terrier the morning of Nov. 18 at BU's Competition Pool.  The meet will come to a close on Nov. 20.  Heats will begin at 10:00 a.m. and finals at 6:00 p.m. each day.
