Forrester Narrowly Misses Second Swim on Day Two at NCAA Championships
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – On the second day of racing at the 2013 NCAA Division I Women's Swimming and Diving Championships senior Alexandra Forrester just missed making it out of the heats in the 100-yard butterfly.
Forrester came off the blocks hard, posting a time of 24.10 for the first 50 yards. Only five swimmers out of 50 in the event posted a faster split for the first 50 yards. For the second 50 yards Forrester clocked in at 28.82 for a total time of 52.92. She missed out on a spot in one of the evening's finals by 0.39 seconds. Just 1.04 seconds separated the top 16 swimmers advancing to the finals.
Forrester will get another chance to race Saturday when she competes in the 200-yard butterfly. There she is ranked fourth, coming in with a time of 1:54.60 from the Ivy League Championships. Freshman Eva Fabian is also racing Saturday, but in the 1,650-yard freestyle where she is seeded 18th.
