NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Two Yale divers will be competing in the NCAA Zone A Diving Championships with six spots at the NCAA Championships up for grabs. Sophomore Danielle DeNunzio and freshman Lilybet MacRae will be traveling to Blacksburg, Va. for the Zone A meet.
DeNunzio and MacRae both performed well in the Bulldogs' final meet, the Ivy League Swimming and Diving Championships, held from Feb. 20-22 at Brown. In the one-meter dive, DeNunzio finished 11th in a crowded field, scoring a 234.55. She missed the cut for the finals in the three-meter, producing a 225.30 to finish 19th .
MacRae had an excellent meet at Ivies, winning the High Point Diver of the Meet Award to build on an impressive regular season. She won the one-meter dive, posting a score of 310.35 that was more than 20 points ahead of second place and less than two points off the meet record. In the three-meter dive, MacRae finished second with a 299.85 despite posting the highest score in the preliminaries.
Preliminaries dives begin each day at 12 p.m., with finals starting at 2:30 after a 15-minute break. The women's one-meter will be contested on Monday and the three-meter takes place on Tuesday.
