NEW HAVEN, Conn.-- Senior Heidi VanderWel of the Yale women's swimming and diving team is headed to Columbus, Ohio, for the 2018 NCAA Women's Swimming and Diving Championships, co-hosted by the Ohio State University and the Greater Columbus Sports Commission at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion from Mar. 14 until Mar. 17.
VaderWel is one of 281 swimmers competing in the championships. She will compete in the 100-yard backstroke, the 200-yard backstroke and the 100-yard butterfly.
This will be VanderWel's first appearance at the NCAA Division I Championships, a final chance to race at the collegiate level before she graduates.
She will be guided by Robert J.H. Kiphuth Head Coach of Women's Swimming and Diving Jim Henry, as she rests and prepares for the final championships of the collegiate season.
Individual event competition will begin on Mar. 15 and continue through Mar. 17 at the McCorkle Aquatic Pavilion at Columbus, Ohio. Preliminaries will begin at 10:00 a.m. each morning and finals will begin at 6:00 p.m. each evening.
