NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Yale women's swimming and diving team had an incredibly successful home opener on Friday. Facing a fellow undefeated team in Columbia, Yale recorded the fastest times in every single swimming event, winning by a score of 205-90.

The Bulldogs performed very well in the freestyle events, sweeping the top three places in four of these races. Junior Kendall Brent (10:12.09) placed first in the 1000-yard freestyle, out-touching first-year Ali Truwit (10:12.69) by less than a second. Senior Lilla Felix placed third in the event.

First-years Raime Jones and Ashley Loomis finished first and second, respectively, in the 200-yard freestyle, and sophomore Claire O'Mara placed third. Jones also finished second in the 100-yard freestyle. In the same event, fellow first-year Marlise Moesch took third, and senior Bella Hindley took first with a time of 50.05. Hindley also won the 50-yard freestyle (23.11).

The Bulldogs also took the top three places in the 500-yard freestyle. First-year Ashley Loomis won the event with a time of 4:55.24. Junior Kendall Brent placed second and sophomore Nathalie Eid placed third.

Yale also had much success in the stroke events. Sophomore Cha O'Leary took the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:04.54, and first-year Olivia Paoletti won the 200-yard breaststroke with a time of 2:19.94.

Senior Destiny Nelson recorded the top times in both the 200-yard individual medley (2:04.01) and the 200-yard backstroke (2:00.83). In the 100-yard backstroke, Bella Hindley out-touched her competitors with a time of 54.54.

First-year Alessandra Baldari won her first individual event in collegiate competition. Her time of 55.95 in the 100-yard butterfly was the top time in the event. Senior Carrie Heilbrun won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:02.79.

Although they failed to win the 3-meter diving, the Bulldogs took the top three places in the 1-meter diving. Seniors Hannah Walsh and Talbott Paulsen took first and second, respectively, and first-year Marisa Conner placed third.

The Bulldogs, now 3-0, will not have another dual meet until Dec. 6. Next weekend, the team will travel travel to the Ohio State Invitational.
