|High School:||Our Lady of Mercy Catholic HS|
Cartoski graduated from Our Lady of Mercy Catholic High School. She also swam with her club team, Swim Atlanta, under Doug Gjertsen. In high school, she qualified for the Georgia High Sschool state championships in the 100 breaststroke and 50 freestyle, placing first in the 100 breaststroke her senior year. From her sophomore through her senior year, Kirsten was a high school All-American in both events. During her freshman year at Yale, Kirsten was a finalist in the 50 freestyle, 100 and 200 breaststroke events at the ECAC meet, finishing third in the 200 breaststroke. In her sophomore year, Kirsten was a consolation finalist at the Ivy League Championships in the 200 breaststroke with a time of 2:19.67. Kirsten is an East Asian Studies major with a concentration in China. In her "spare" time, she enjoys playing the violin and piano, artistic endeavors, singing with the Yale Slavic Chorus, kung-fu and spending quality time with her teammates outside of the pool. The deepest impression Yale has left on Kirsten has been the amazing people that comprise Yale's student body. Kirsten is the daughter of Edwin J. Cartoski, Jr. and Sylvia Cartoski. Her brother, Travis, currently is a biology major at Clayton State University.
