Christine Yurechko, a native of McLean, VA, has been a swimmer since she was five years old. She has swum and coached for her summer league team, Tuckahoe recreation club, as well as her club team, Sea Devils, and her high school. She holds numerous team records for all three teams in individual and relay events. A graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School for Science and Technology in Alexandria, Va, Christine was part of the state winning colonial team her sophomore, junior, and senior years. She also helped the Colonials to four state relay titles, many district and regional relay records, and numerous All-American relays along the way. She is also a two-time All-American qualifier in the 100 yard backstroke for high school. In addition, Christine is a Junior National qualifier in the 100 backstroke and the 100 butterfly. She is a USS Scholastic All-American as well as a certified lifeguard and Water Safety instructor. She chose to come to Yale for both the excellent academic environment and challenging Division 1 swimming experience. In her freshman year, Christine enjoyed swimming the backstrokes at most dual meets, and was a bonus finalist in the 100 back and a consolation finalist in the 200 back at Ivies, also qualifying for junior nationals in the 200 back. Outside of swimming, she is involved in Saybrook College Council
