Yale Women's Swimming Triumphs Over Brown

NEW HAVEN, Conn. - Despite trailing after the first half of the meet, the Yale women's swimming team came back in the final events to defeat Brown 155-145 on Friday evening at Kiputh Exhibition Pool.
Individual winners included Christina Hession (1000 Free, 10:12.64 and 500 Free, 4:59.95), Daphna Shafir (200 Butterfly, 2:04.86), Melanie Loftus (1m Dive, 269.54), Moira McCloskey (200 Backstroke, 2:05.81 and 200 Yard Medley, 2:07.61), Caroline Stephenson (200 Breaststroke, 2:22.02), Becca Knicely (100 Butterfly, :57.00) and Kathleen McKeon (3m Dive, 269.47).
Yale sealed its victory in the second to last event of the meet, the 200 Yard IM, where the Bulldogs swept the top three spots led by McCloskey in first, Caroline Stephenson in second (2:07.98) and Megan Bailey in third (2:09.82).
This meet was the final home meet for the 2003-2004 Bulldogs and was the final meet in New Haven for Yale's 10 seniors: Emily Cardy, Rebecca Fausel, Meghan Gutekunst, Amy Hancock, Paige Harazin, Kathleen McKeon, Adrienne Mossler, Laura O'Brien, Danielle Page and Daphna Shafir.
Yale's next contests will be the Ivy Championships (at Harvard) and the ECAC Championships (at Pittsburgh), which will both be held on February 26.
