Yale in Fifth After Day Two at Ivy Championships

Princeton, NJ - Yale finished day two at the Ivy League Championships in fifth place with a total of 632 points Friday in Princeton, NJ. After 14 events, the Bulldogs trail Penn by just over 15 points for fourth place.

On day one, the Bulldogs took fifth place in the 200-yard freestyle relay. Sophomore Andrea Clifford, freshman Becca Stern, freshman Ileana Lucos, and junior Alexis Mann finished in 1:34.81 to take fifth place in the race.

In the 500-yard freestyle, freshman Brittany Iacouzze took eight place with a time of 5:01.00 to earn Yale 22 points. Junior Laura Strittmatter took 13th place for 14 points and freshman Annie Killian took 14th place for 13 points.

In the 200-yard IM, senior Caroline Dowd took 14th place in 2:07.82 to earn Yale 13 points. Dowd edged teammate sophomore Susan Kim who finished in 15th for 12 points with a time of 2:07.89.

Mann took 11th place to earn the Bulldogs 16 points in 23.64. Clifford tied for 13th place in 23.88 to earn 13.5 points for the Bulldogs.

Senior Ali Jones earned 17 points for the Bulldogs with a 10th place finish in the 1-meter diving.

On day two, Yale took fourth place in the 200-yard medley relay. Stern, Dowd, Clifford, and Mann combined for a time of 1:44.54 to take 52 points for Yale.

In the 1000-yard freestyle, Iacouzze finished in 10:04.49 to earn 22 points with an 8th place finish. Strittmatter finished two slots behind Iacouzze to earn 17 points with a time of 10:07.26.

Senior Laura Aronsson took 9th place in the 400 IM to earn 20 points with a time of 4:29.19. Junior Blake Walsh took 11th place to win the Bulldogs 16 points.

In the 100-yard butterfly, junior Aidan McKinlay took fifth place to take home 25 points for the Bulldogs. Clifford finished in 8th with a time of 57.26 to take 22 points for Yale.

Lucos and sophomore Laura E Grigereit took 9th and 10th place respectively to earn the Bulldogs a combined 37 points in the 200-yard freestyle.

Kim came out strong with a fifth place finish in a time of 1:04.15 to earn Yale 25 points in the 100-yard Breaststroke. Junior Marilee Kiernan finished in 6th with a time of 1:04.28 for 24 Yale points.

In the 800-yard freestyle relay, Greigereit, Iacouzze, Killian, and Lucos combined for a time of 7:34.30 to win fourth place and 52 points for the Bulldogs.

Yale will conclude the championships Sunday.
