Fairfax, Va. - The Yale women's swimming team is in second place after the first day of the Patriot Invite at George Mason University. Among 11 teams, the Bulldogs trail only Duke. The Blue Devils racked up 263 first-day points, followed by Yale with 196 and UNC-Wilmington with 152.
Yale's 400-yard medley relay team of Moira McCloskey, Caroline Dowd, Becca Knicely and Meg Gill placed second in 3:55.36. The Bulldogs got third-place finishes from the 200-yard freestyle relay team (1:38.67) and Cristina Hession in the 500-yard freestyle.
The meet resumes Saturday and continues Sunday.
