NEW HAVEN, Conn. - The Bulldogs captured top spots in nine events in this weekend's Nutmeg Invitational, hosted in their own Kiputh Exhibition Pool.
Freshman Marilee Kiernan won the 200 breakstroke with a time of 2:23.30, while classmate Emily Cole took second in the 500 freestyle with a time of 5:07.50 and third in the 1650 freestyle with 17:36.46. Blake Walsh '09 and Nicole Swaney'08 also raced to the front in their events, as Walsh came in second in the 200 butterfly (2:09.45) and Swaney placed second in the 200 freestyle. Her time of 1:56.15 was quickly followed by junior Meg Gill, who clocked in at third with a time of 1:56.61.
Gill and Swaney teamed up with sophomores Laura Aronsson and Caroline Dowd to capture first place in the 800 freestyle relay with a time of 7:46.14. The elis also excelled in the 400 freestyle relay, where Gill, Alex Mann '09, Marin Foley '09 and Katelyn Kane '08 came in second with a time of 3:36.97 400.
Sophomore Ali Jones dominated the diving competition, winning the 3-meter event (257.40) and placing second in the 1-meter dive (228.80).
The Bulldogs' next event is in San Juan, Puerto Rico, where they will travel over the winter break.
